Work by Fairlite Consulting and Fairlite Glass Walls
Cox’s vision was a spectacular glass podium design alongside an 1858 heritage listed blue stone Church & Vestry, a perfect balance of old meets new.
The project had a total 161 pieces of glass and 79 structural fins, 4 gigantic glass fins hang a total of 9-metres high (an equivalent to 3 stories) from level 3. The structural glass wall wraps round and above the heritage listed Wesley Church Vestry bringing the heritage listed blue stone into the foyer, which is a sight to be seen.
In keeping with the podium was the 3 oversized all glass automatic revolving doors with their impressive glass lids. This glass revolvers span 3.6 metres in diameter.
Above the Church, Fairlite constructed their signature glass portal frames to cantilever out to the church to seal the foyer.
The Glass wall was designed to accommodate the building movement between L1, L2 & L3 structure. Bespoke patch fittings were fabricated by Fairlite to ensure undue weight is never transferred into the face glass structure.
Due to the clay soil on which the Wesley Vestry is built, measurements of up to 70mm of movement were recorded seasonally. Fairlite detailed the abutment to accommodate the large movement and swelling.
