The Worlds only 3 Pin Glass Arch

Developer: QIC/Macquarie
Client: Multiplex/Macquaire
Architect: Woods Baggot

The glass box is situated at the top of a 3-storey staircase and floods the space with natural light.

Fairlite Consulting was able to value add to the design by removing significant amount of support steel-work to maximize light and introduce an all glass corner to the box. To do this we used the glass itself as the support structure for the box.

Fairlite Glass Walls used their signature all glass portal frames which in the case of the box uses a 3 Pin glass mechanism to accommodate the building movement.

We had a number of interesting external factors affecting the design and build of the glass box. The physical position of the glass box itself on Level 36 was one of the biggest design features to consider. The movement of the tower at level 36 was quite significant, combined with the fact that the floors move differentially. The wind loads at Level 36 generate an amount of sway and twist which also was a major consideration in the overall design.
